As much as I love my single-serve coffee pot, the amount of waste it creates is rather alarming. The plastic pods are convenient and easy to use, but have been detrimental to the environment. That is one of the reasons I was really excited to try Rise Coffee Pods by Greater Goods.
Compatible with most Keurig brewers, these coffee pods use a much more environmentally-friendly approach. Instead of an entire cup made of plastic, these pods use a plastic ring with the bottom portion made similarly to a coffee filter. I do have a Vue machine, which these are not listed as compatible with, but I can use them with an adapter with no issue.
I have had the opportunity to try both the Breakfast Blend (light roast) and the Mountain Blend (medium roast). Both make an excellent cup of coffee, but there are some differences. The Breakfast Blend is a milder roast, with a bright, clean flavor. There is no bitterness. It’s a full coffee flavor, yet mild. I like this coffee with my breakfast or as the day starts to wear on and I need just a bit of a pick-me-up. In contrast, the Mountain Blend is a bolder coffee, with a bit more flavor. I find it to be balanced and enjoyable.
