Last week at Rite-Aid, NYC was on sale and there were coupons on the display in the store. This led to some very cheap items, so I couldn’t pass it up. It’s certainly not an expensive brand, even when paying full retail price. NYC isn’t a drugstore brand that I tend to make purchases from, other than nail polish, so I’m excited to see how their products work for me.
I probably should have purchased some blush or a foundation to test. I was also interested in their primer. Those are things that will go on the list the next time this brand is on sale. Expect a full review of these items to come.
City Duet 2-in-1 Lip Color in The Metropolitan Mauves & The Empire Lilacs ♥
I’ve put these in my cart a couple of times while shopping at my local Rite-Aid, but I’ve always returned them to the display and not gone through with my purchase. I think the concept is interesting. As someone who carries 5-10 lip products my purse, I like the idea of a lipstick that is two shades. These could also be layered, which would create a third color in one tube. Unfortunately, they do smell like Play-Doh, which is not appealing.
Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny ♥
I’ve been on a search for a matte bronzer, not realizing that there were drugstore options that did not have shimmer. This was one of the items lots of people on Makeuptalk mentioned they would be picking up, so I thought I’d give it a try as well.
City Curls Curling Mascara in Extreme Black ♥
My lashes are very straight and do not hold curl. I’m still searching for the perfect mascara for me, and I would be extremely happy to find it in a cheap, drugstore option.
Expert Last Lip Color in Blue Rose & Peach Fizz ♥
I’m trying to branch out from my hoard of pink lipsticks. I’ve been really drawn to shades that are purple-based. Corals aren’t something I’ve ever worn, so I’ve been on a search for a lipstick in that shade range that flatters my skin tone. I also really liked the packaging on these, so I grabbed a couple. They do still have a little of that Play-Doh smell I noticed with the 2-in-1 lipsticks, but it’s not nearly as overwhelming.
City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color in South Berry Ferry & Riverside Rose ♥
I really like the Revlon lip crayons and I wanted to see how these compare. Several colors in the shade range were already sold out when I got these or I would have likely made different choices. If I get lip products really cheap, I usually like to choose things that are a bit out of my comfort zone. Both of these colors, however, are similar to things I already own.
Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in Apple Blueberry Pie & Applelicious Pink ♥
Lip balms are one of my weaknesses, but I don’t like to pay a lot for them. I keep them in my car, my purse, my desk drawer, and in the medicine cabinet. I’ve never tried an NYC balm and I like the cute, apple shape in the center of these.
